Quinoa has been called the "sacred grain of the Incas". Quinoa is one of the oldest plants that were cultivated in South America (ca. 5000 years ago). Spanish conquistadors introduced it to the European market only in the 15th century.

Quinoa is also known as Peruvian rice and has been a staple of nutrition for ancient civilizations for millennia. She was called "Mother of Cereals". Interestingly, quinoa was revered and considered a plant that gives life.

Quinoa flour - health properties

Quinoa contains within it all the amino acids that are needed for building muscle proteins. Amino acids are needed for the synthesis of keratin, the component responsible for the appearance of hair or nails.

Quinoa grains are a rich source of phosphorus, iron, zinc, calcium, folic acid or magnesium. Zinc has a strong antioxidant effect.

50% of the dry weight of quinoa grain is starch, which is the the main energy component. Naturally gluten-free.

Quinoa flour contains in it unsaturated fatty acids (linolenic acid, oleic acid and linoleic acid), which contributes to lowering cholesterol levels and reducing the risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. Also worth noting is our quinoa.
